For the launch of the new Apple MacBook Air, powered by their latest Apple Silicon chip, I was brought on to contribute across 3D, animation, and design to help shape the visual identity of the campaign. Apple wanted to move towards a more vibrant and colorful aesthetic, reflecting the power and efficiency of their new CPU. I worked on developing new design styles that would become part of the visual language of the chip, pushing beyond their traditional minimalism to create something more dynamic and expressive.

Beyond design, I explored WebGL as a new frontier for Apple’s product websites. Up until this project, Apple had been hesitant to integrate WebGL into their online experiences, but this launch provided the perfect opportunity to experiment. I developed multiple 3D animations that visually deconstructed the CPU, highlighting its architecture, core components, and the way they communicate. These explorations helped set the foundation for how Apple could use real-time 3D on their digital platforms, pushing the boundaries of their interactive product storytelling.

Visualizing the breakthrough technology of Apple’s new chip—combining high-fidelity 3D rendering with real-time WebGL to create a photorealistic, interactive experience that highlights its power, efficiency, and next-generation architecture.

To accurately visualize Apple’s next-generation CPU, we recreated it in 3D using Octane, leveraging its powerful rendering engine to achieve realistic materials and lighting. This approach allowed us to quickly iterate through different ways of showcasing the chip’s intricate architecture and how its components work together to deliver groundbreaking performance. By experimenting with materials, reflections, and animations, we crafted a visual narrative that highlighted the power and efficiency of Apple Silicon in a way that felt both technical and visually stunning.

To bring this experience into an interactive format, we integrated everything into WebGL using a PBR (Physically Based Rendering) system. This ensured that the photo-realistic look and feel from the Octane renders carried over seamlessly into real-time 3D, allowing users to explore the CPU’s structure dynamically. The combination of high-fidelity rendering and WebGL interactivity provided an immersive, visually rich experience that effectively showcased the breakthrough technology behind Apple’s latest MacBook Air.
